HCCP: Bates Morse Mountain Management Assistant (S9652C)
Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities
The purpose of this position is to provide assistance to the Bates Morse Mountain Conservation Area Director in completing a management plan for the area. The Management Assistant will specifically be charged with completing an ecological inventory and describing management strategies for significant species, natural communities and conservation values. The Management Assistant will live at the college’s Coastal Center at Shortridge and will be expected to live responsibly with other student residents and support the development of the Shortridge Summer Residency Program.
Specific responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
- Archival research on flora, fauna and other ecological features of the Bates Morse Mountain Conservation Area
- Identification of ecological features on site, mapping and describing distinct natural areas
- Providing the lead in developing management strategies to ensure protection of ecological features and values
- Writing descriptions and management approaches for ecological features to be used in a BMMCA Management Plan
