HIS: Student Assistant ()
Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities
The Student Assistant is expected to photocopy and perform library searches. In addition, the position requires basic evaluating of the mechanical aspects of student papers that assumes a familiarity with department reference and bibliographical form. Occasionally, the Assistant may be asked to pre-read student term papers, if he or she is familiar with the content. Because this position deals with matters concerning student grades and internal department matters, discretion and maturity are essential personal qualities.

Requirements
Required:
Education: The Student Assistant must at least be a sophomore at Bates who has taken
introduction History courses and who has participated in classes where he or
she has learned term paper techniques.
Reporting
Coordinates/Works closely with: Professor Creighton
Responsibilities
Environment: Library, office, dorm room, and study areas
Machines & Equipment Used: Photocopier, stapler, and computer
