ILS: Academic Technology Intern I (S9845B)

Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

Curricular and Research Computing seeks self-motivated, energetic students who want hands-on technical experience working with computer technology. Students will work on various projects in a support capacity, as well as staff the Roger Williams Hall computer lab. These students must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to learn quickly.

Duties will involve contributing to projects as assigned, and providing basic instruction and troubleshooting in computer software or hardware problems. Curricular and Research Computing supports both Macintosh and Windows environments. We will provide training as necessary to enable interns to carry out their duties.

Specific responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Maintain proper standards for facility use
  • Ensure the lab computers and peripherals are functioning properly
  • Communicate any problems students or faculty are having to the Help Desk
  • Assist CRC staff on academic support projects

Requirements


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Interns must be familiar with Mac OS X (ideally 10.9) or Windows 7. They also must have proficiency in standard computing tools software. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Audio and video editing tools.
