ILS: Network Installation Assistant (S9846A)
Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities
The job responsibilities of the network Installation Assistant include basic telecommunications and data network installation and maintenance. The position is not “computer oriented” but the employee will assist other employees in the installation and repair of cables and equipment. The employee may also be asked to perform other duties as assigned. This position will involve working in student dorms, and faculty and administrative offices, and therefore requires the professionalism expected in an academic environment.
The Network Installation Assistant must be able to follow explicit and detailed directions and have a strong desire to learn.

Qualifications, Requirements, and Responsibilities
Education: Bates student
Experience: Experience with computers, electronics, and/or construction
Reports to:James Bauer/ Kevin Poland
Coordinates / Works Closely With: Information and Library Services staff, Telecommunications staff, outside contractors, and many other college departments
Environment: Many basements, attics, and mechanical rooms in buildings on campus.
Physical Requirements: This student must be able to lift and carry 35 lbs, climb stairs, and work in construction areas. He or she also must be able to distinguish colors (may be asked to pass an eye exam prior to employment).
