Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

The Student Assistant Shelver is responsible for shelving all materials in the library, excluding Government Documents.  This position requires punctuality, attention to detail and responsibility.  The Student Assistant Shelver must be able to work independently.

REQUIRED: EDUCATION: High school completion DESIRED: EXPERIENCE: Library experience


REPORTS TO: Assistant College Librarian for Access Services, Audio Supervisor, Public Services Assistant, and Reference Librarian


ENVIRONMENT: Library PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The Public Services Assistant must have visual acuity sufficient to scan call numbers and information on books, periodicals, and microforms repeatedly and for long periods of time. He or she must also have the muscular strength adequate to lift heavy books and periodicals. MACHINES & EQUIPMENT USED: Book trucks and elevator
