MUS: Music Concert Manager (S9800C)
Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities
The Concert Manager will be responsible for overseeing a variety of production details for concerts that take place in the Olin Arts Center concert hall. Duties may include such tasks as, greeting performers, photocopying and distributing concert programs, unlocking concert hall and green room doors, operating lights, supplying musicians’ chairs, music stands, other necessary equipment and stage furnishings, stage management, monitoring the Olin lobby to accommodate late seating, and maintaining quiet during performances.
Specific responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
- Receiving performers
- Setting up the concert halls for programs
- Attending to performers’ various needs during the concert and intermissions
- Attending to intermission details
- Coordinating any sour recording activities

Qualifications, Requirements, and Responsibilities
Requirements
EDUCATION: Bates student
EXPERIENCE: The Music Concert Manager must have some related experience or formal
musical background, particularly previous participation in public concerts
in some capacity.
Reporting
SUPERVISES: Ushers, Studio Technicians, and other concert staff
COORDINATES/WORKS CLOSELY WITH: Concert staff, faculty members, performers, sponsoring organizations and members of the community
Responsibilities
ENVIRONMENT: Olin Arts Center
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: The Music Concert Manager will be expected to do some occasional traveling.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This student must be able to do some lifting and much moving about with equipment.
MACHINES & EQUIPMENT USED: Rolling pianos, concert Hall lighting systems and sound systems, music stand and musician's chairs
