Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

The Equipment Operations Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of Athletic Equipment Operations which includes working in the equipment rooms, staffing the equipment issue window for equipment distribution and collection, perform laundering services, and maintaining inventory. This position also assists with practice and contest management, facility management, and minor maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  •  Scheduling and holding regular, weekly meetings with club officers
  •  Assist in development of Club Sport Handbook
  •  Familiarizing club officers with the Club Sport Handbook
  • Familiarizing club personnel with the procedures required to complete club activities
  • Alerting club officers of potential consequences resulting from actions not sanctioned by Bates Club Sport policy
  •  Enforce Club Sport Organization and College policy
  •  Assist in training new club officers
  • Maintain club rosters and check participant waivers for accuracy
  • Devising and suggesting creative solutions to the dilemmas encountered by the clubs
  • Scheduling and holding “emergency” meetings when clubs have special, immediate needs
  • Lead Club Sport Organization meetings with prepared agendas
  • Act in the role of Club Sport Supervisor during all related events including meetings, practices, games, and other events
  • Attend and participate in training sessions & staff meetings.
  • Maintain an enthusiastic, helpful attitude when working with club officers
  • Work on projects as assigned

 

Club Sport Supervisors may to assigned to any of the following tasks:

  •  Manage club equipment inventories and first aid kits
  • Line fields
  • Inspect Competitive Sports equipment and facilities
  • Manage home events
  • Facility scheduling
  • Monitoring and approving club travel
  • Secure transportation for clubs
  • Secure lodging for clubs
  •  Manage approved drivers
  •  Manage club community service requirements
  •  Budget and expense management
  • Manage club Safety & Facility Officer requirements
  • Organize sport club community initiatives
  • Manage the sport clubs social media presence
  • Create monthly newsletters
  • Serve as a member of the Club Sport Council (CSC)

Qualifications, Requirements, and Responsibilities

Responsibilities


Work environment can be warm and noisy at times. Also may be required to work outdoors in cold or warm temperatures and weather. Must be able to sit at desk for long durations. Must be able to lift 30 lbs. Must be able to walk up multiple stairs and walk for long durations.

Requirements:  Ability to use or learn how to use minor hand and power tools  Ability to effectively monitor and communicate to student-athletes, coaches, and staff  Punctuality, accuracy and the ability to meet deadlines  Good oral and written communication skills; strong attention to detail  Indoor and outdoor work required  Ability to lift 30 pounds  Sport-specific equipment knowledge is preferred but not required  Flexible schedule; hours include mornings, evenings, weekends, some holidays and summer (if available)  Weekends scheduled on a rotating basis
