Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

The Social Media Coordinator for the Office of Campus Life is responsible for supporting social media needs for Campus Life, which include: developing and maintaining a cohesive and versatile online brand for the office; creating a consistent “personality” in the social media posts made through office accounts; posting to office social mediaaccounts regularly, with a goal of maintaining viewership and increasing followers; developing social media campaigns to engage the campus community; and promoting office and student club events and programs. The Social Media Coordinator is expected to attend all meetings and trainings required for the position.

Responsibilities


The Social Media Coordinator will hold office hours, and will also complete some work remotely.

Requirements


Applicants should have deep experience with mainstream social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and SnapChat. Professional aspirations and/or experience in social media marketing preferred; must be organized, responsible, personable, enthusiastic and able to work well with others; must be able and willing to work with a diverse group of students and staff; must be able to respond to office communications in a timely manner (no more than 24 hours except under special circumstances), should have an exceptional ability to multitask and engage in time management; must be able to adhere to established project deadlines; should have an awareness of Bates social life, and an interest in events and programming; preference will be given to work study students; applicants are asked to provide three work samples with their application, demonstrating proficiency in social media marketing.

Reporting


The Social Media Coordinator reports to the Director of Campus Life. They will work closely with the Graphic Designer. They may also interact with Student Programming Fellows and other staff members in the Office of Campus life.
