Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

Safewalkers escort students walking on campus from one location to another. They offer safe walks to students seen walking alone, and report security or safety concerns observed. A safewalker patrol consists of a male/female or female/female team.

Safewalkers must be able to work with all types of people and be able to remain calm in stressful situations.

REPORTS TO: Student Safety Coordinator COORDINATES/WORKS CLOSELY WITH: Other Safewalkers, Student Dispatchers, Safety Coordinators, Communication Officers, and Security Officers. Safewalkers also have frequent interaction with the college community.


ENVIRONMENT: Outdoors and must work in inclement weather PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Safewalkers must be able to see, hear, speak and walk for extended periods of time. MACHINES & EQUIPMENT USED: Two-way radio, flashlight, and safety vest
