BRISTOL, R.I. -- Bates College seniors Tess Dokus and Liz Leberman were selected to play in the 2009 NEWVA Senior Classic this Sunday at UMass-Boston, the New England Women's Volleyball Association announced.

Dokus (Fairport, N.Y.) led the Bobcats in kills for the second straight year, notching a career-high average of 2.46 per set with an attack percentage of .226. The team co-captain also made a career-high 0.25 blocks per set. Over her four-year career, Dokus has 828 kills and 81 blocks.

It is the second postseason honor for Leberman (Concord, N.H.), who last week was named to the 2009 CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Third Team in the College Division of District 1. A two-year team captain, Leberman was one of two players for Bates (along with setter Grace Haessler) who rarely left the floor. She ranked second on the team in kills, with 2.39 per set, posting a career-high .201 attack percentage. Leberman was second on the Bobcats in both digs (2.61 per set) and serve receptions (.905 percentage on 348 attempts). Over her four years as a Bobcat, Leberman totaled 998 kills (2.44 per set) and 1,317 digs (3.22 per set).

Players were selected by a vote of all participating member head coaches following the nomination process. The invitees represent 21 institutions from NCAA Division III volleyball programs in New England and six different conferences. The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) leads the way with 14 student athletes.
