Matia Kostakis

2007-2008: In 2007, she was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team…. Bates Scholar Athlete Award recipient…. Number six on the Bates career rebounding list (770) and number 13 on the Bates career scoring list (1,252, including the 272 points she scored for Amherst when she played with them 2002-2005)…. Started 24 of 25 games…. Averaged .380 in field goals (87-229) and .800 in free throws (16-20), totaling 200 points…. Made 13 blocks and 36 steals…. Made 163 rebounds (54 offensive and 109 defensive).
2006-2007: Named to the All-State Second Team by the Maine State Women’s Basketball Association… Led the NESCAC in rebounding average (9.2)… Second on team in scoring average (13.7)… Had a field goald percentage of .429… Led the team in free throw percentage (.778)… Scored a career high 28 points against Husson on November 29, 2006.
2005-2006: Second-highest scorer, point average (12.6 ppg), averaged 4.9 field goals per game, second-highest field goal scorer on team, free throw percentage (.797)…. Rebound average (7.2 rpg), second-highest on team…. Blocked shots average (0.4 bpg)…. Played 566 minutes.
2004-2005 (at Amherst College): Won Co-Rookie of the Year honors in the NESCAC, along with current teammate Sarah Barton of Bates…. Ranked second in the conference in rebounding (9.8 rpg), third in blocked shots (1.31 bpg), fourth in field goal percentage (.498) and 19th in scoring (10.5 ppg)…. Led Amherst (15-11) in scoring and rebounding…. Shot .830 at the free throw line.
High School: Also a member of the Volleyball, Track and Swimming teams…. Won four letters in Basketball, three in swimming and one each on the volleyball and track teams… Member of the Andover State Champion Basketball team for the 2002-03 season…. MVC All-Conference…. High Honor Roll.
