Bates junior Elizabeth “Bud” Arens missed the finals of the 1,500 meters by just one spot on Thursday at the 2012 NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, bringing the outdoor season to an end for the Bates women’s team.
Bates junior Bud Arens was selected to compete in her third consecutive NCAA Division III Track & Field Championship, and her second straight outdoor nationals, in the 1,500 meters this week.
A pair of top-six performances fueled the Bates women’s track and field team Friday, on the final day of the ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships. Bates scored 12 team points, tying with Rochester Institute of Technology for 25th place among 55 scoring teams.
Team records in the 800 meters and the 4×100 relay were broken by the Bates women’s track and field team on Saturday at the all-divisions Open New Englands at MIT.
