The James Wallach '64 Tennis Center, built in memory of the College trustee and former tennis captain, is home to Bates' nationally-ranked tennis team. Eight Plexi-cushion courts, all lighted for evening play with room for 500 spectators and an observation deck for coaches, saw their first use in September 2000. The Bobcats also use four indoor courts in Merrill Gymnasium.
