Teaching a W2 Course

The W2 is the second course of the three-tier writing requirement.  W2s are taught within a discipline or interdisciplinary field of study; in a W2 students gain practice with the writing conventions associated with scholarship in a particular field and practice the kind of writing-to-learn that will serve them well in their senior thesis. Please see the documents below for some guidance in designing a W2:

If you plan to propose a W2, you must do so through the Course Proposal system on Garnet Gateway and fill out a proposal form outlining your plans for teaching writing in this course. You might find it helpful to look over a hard copy of the writing-designation proposal questions beforehand: W2 Proposal Form
