Alexander, Coffin Earn All-New England Soccer Accolades
12/13/ 2004

LEWISTON, Maine – Two Bates College women's soccer players were named to the Div. III New England All-Regional second team, as voted upon by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Kim Alexander '07 (Cumberland, Maine) and Meg Coffin '07 (Westford, Mass.) started in all 15 games this season, leading the Bobcats to a 9-4-2 record (4-3-2 New England Small College Athletic Conference).

Bates finished fourth in NESCAC in the regular season and lost to Bowdoin in the first-round of the NESCAC championship. Both Alexander and Coffin were named first-team All-NESCAC.

Alexander, a forward, tied for the team lead in scoring. She had 17 points on seven goals and three assists. She also had a four-game scoring streak in mid-October, scoring two goals in a 4-1 win over Williams during that streak. Last year she was second team All-NESCAC. This is her first selection to a New England All-Regional team.

Coffin, a back, anchored a defense that posted seven shutouts in 2004 and allowed 0.91 goals per game. She finished the year with four goals, scoring three in a 4-1 over the University of New England. Last year Coffin was a third team All-Region selection.
