Nochomovitz Advances to "B" Quarterfinals at NESCAC Women's Tennis Championships

Nochomovitz is 2-2 in tournament play this season.
AMHERST, Mass. –
Emma Nochomovitz won a pair of matches to advance to the quarterfinal round in the "B" draw of the 2004 New England Small College Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Championship hosted by Amherst College on Friday.

Nochomovitz '07 (Cleveland, Ohio) defeated Trinity's Mimi Krueger 6-2, 6-4 in the first round, then came back to knock out Connecticut College's Britt Fallon, 3-6, 6-4 (11-9) in the Round of 16.

On Saturday, Nochomovitz lost to the No. 2 seed, Alex Maclennan of Williams.

Bates finished tied with Hamilton in 10th place with two points. Amherst and Williams finished as co-champions with 27 points apiece.

Liz Currie '06 (Yarmouth, Maine) lost in straight sets to Trinity's Diana Dreyfus in the first round of the "A" draw, while Laura Harris '07 (Mercer Island, Wash.) fell to Amherst's Rachel Holt, the top seed in the "B" draw in the Round of 16. Erin Bednarek '05 (Holden, Mass.) lost in the first round of the "C" draw, while Sarah Oremland '07 (Evanston, Ill.) lost in the first round of the "D" draw for the Bobcats.

Bates also lost all three doubles matches on the day.

The NESCAC championship will continue through Saturday and Sunday.
