Bates skating school seeks students

LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates College officials have announced that registration is open for the Bates Skating School, which begins Jan. 15 and still has openings in the youth power skating program for children in grades 1-8 and in the beginner adult class. The pre-school and youth figure skating programs are already full.

The power skating class, designed to improve hockey skating skills, is offered at 10:30 a.m., Saturdays, beginning Jan. 15. The beginner adult class, offered to those 18 years and older, runs 6:30-8 p.m., Mondays, beginning Jan. 24. This is the fourth annual Bates Skating School. Classes are held under the supervision of Marsha Graef, assistant director of athletics. Those interested in more information may call the Office of Special Projects at 207-786-6077.
