No. 10 Bates women sweep Tufts, Northeastern in squash

LEWISTON, Maine – The Bates College women’s squash team scored a pair of sweeps Saturday at the Bates Squash Center, downing Tufts University 9-0 in the afternoon and capping the day with a 9-0 win over Northeastern University, in the Huskies’ first year as a team.

Bates’ No. 1 player, senior Melissa Lue Yen (Kingston, Jamaica), defeated Tufts sophomore Rebecca Rice (St. Louis, Mo.). All other Bobcats scored 3-0 sweeps over the Jumbos, as Bates won by an aggregate score of 248-55.

Against Northeastern, Bates cruised by an aggregate score of 216-6.

Bates faces St. Lawrence University Sunday at 10 a.m.
