Head Coach Peter Lasagna
In 2009 Peter Lasagna enters his ninth season as head coach of men's lacrosse at Bates College, having led the Bobcats to three appearances in the NESCAC Championship. Lasagna was named NESCAC Men's Lacrosse Coach of the Year in 2005. Only the third head lacrosse coach ever at Bates, Lasagna has accumulated a 48-60 record overall at Bates. Under Lasagna's leadership, three Bates players have been named USILA All-Americans, and a fourth went on to play for the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse. A 1982 graduate of Brown University, Lasagna came to Bates after 18 years of coaching at his alma mater, including the last eight as head coach. Lasagna compiled a 65-51 record as the Bears' head coach, 30-18 in Ivy League games. Brown went to three NCAA Division I championship tournaments during his tenure, including an appearance in the national semifinals in 1994 and the quarterfinals in 1995. Lasagna was named Division I Coach of the Year by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association that year. He was also named Division I Coach of the Year by the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association in both 1994 and 1995. Lasagna won more NCAA playoff games at Brown than any other Brown head coach. In 2002, Lasagna was inducted into the New England Lacrosse Hall of Fame. |
