On college campuses, one in four women have reported being sexually assaulted by someone they know and alcohol is almost always involved. Bridget McAlonan and Molly Nelson from S.A.C.C. in Lewiston will lead a dialogue about acquaintance rape, why it happens, and what we can all do to stop it. Judy Donnelly, Bates Nutritionist, will showcase some cool, yet reliable sources for nutrition info on the web. Drinking Like a Student: What Really Happens During and After College?Wednesday, March 4, 7:00 pm in Mays Center Interesting and relevant information about how typical college drinking is related to difficulties after college, as well as bust myths about drinking practices and common beliefs about alcohol and alcoholism. Dr. Wendy Kjeldgaard, Bates Psychologist, gives specific suggestions and recommendations on exploring one’s reasons for drinking, drinking patterns and avoiding problems related to alcohol use. Expressing Emotions Using Visual JournalsWednesday, March 25, 7:00 pm in Mays Center A great technique for stress relief, explore how image making exercises using art materials can open you up to creatively express your thoughts and emotions in a "visual journal".
