Having a positive FL experience is not a science but an art. The art is finding the balance and fit for the FL, coach, and athletes of your team. You need to discover what works for you – communication is key.

∙Get involved—sit on bench, go to practice, team dinners, etc, as appropriate
∙Use informal opportunities—walking across campus, meals, bus rides, etc
∙Get to know all of team (by name at least)
∙Remember why involved with liaison program~ e.g., to build relationships
∙Think of athletics as a co-curricular learning opportunity for all involved
∙Ask for ideas from all parties (students, coaches, faculty)
∙Pre- or early season/semester interactions—build foundation when there is more time
