FOR NON-TRADITIONAL AND VISITING STUDENTS Bates welcomes applications from students who have been enrolled in other colleges or universities as well as those who have taken time off from formal education to work or pursue other vocational or personal goals. First, some definitions: A non-traditional student is one who is of non-traditional age or background. If you have completed four transferable courses or are pursuing a second undergraduate degree, you may apply as a transfer student. (Second-degree candidates are not eligible for college scholarship funds). Please contact admissions directly for more information at admissions@bates.edu. A visiting student is a degree candidate at another institution who enrolls at Bates for a semester or a year. Candidates should follow transfer application guidelines and indicate a preference for a semester or a full year. Visiting students have all the same rights and privileges as other Bates students with two exceptions: they are not eligible for Bates scholarship assistance and they may not participate in NCAA-sanctioned athletic competition. All interested students are advised to contact the Dean of Students office for more information. |
