Semester Invoices and Monthly Statements

Semester invoices are mailed approximately three weeks prior to the due date each semester.  Monthly statements are mailed after the 25th of each month for outstanding balances and/or new charges.  Statements showing credit or zero balances are sent at the end of the academic year.

Semester invoices and monthly statements are addressed to the student and mailed to the person(s) designated by the student to receive the bill.  If there are no individuals identified to receive the billing statement, then statements are mailed to the student at his or her permanent mailing address.  A student may elect to have the bill sent to parents, guardians, grandparents, or others by so indicating on the Garnet Gateway, the College's secure records system.  Students may view and track account activity at any time through the Garnet Gateway.  Payment in full is expected by the payment deadline.  Bills which are not paid on the due date are subject to a late charge at a rate of 1 percent per month.

Students whose accounts are delinquent may become ineligible to register for classes, receive grades and transcripts, choose campus housing, receive financial aid for future semesters, return to Bates for a subsequent semester, or graduate.

Methods of Payment

Payment may be made by check or money order payable to Bates College with the student's name and identification number on the face of the check.  A fee of $25 will be assessed for any check received with insufficient funds to cover the amount.

Bates also accepts wire transfers; for instructions on how to wire funds to Bates College please call (207) 786-6096.  We do not accept credit cards for payment of the student account.
