An online job bank consists of both job listings and resume services.Employers pay to search the database when they need to fill a particular position. They also pay to post their job listings. Usually there is no cost to the job hunter. If the site is a corporate one, they may allow you to post your resume in their private resume database and it will only be accessed by their company. Some corporate sites will only pay the job bank to hyperlink to their home page. This way, they only have to worry about updating their home page and not the information they have posted on a dozen different job bank sites. Some companies will have a hyperlink so job seekers can email their recruiter directly. Remember to follow their guidlines for submitting your resume. How can you use a job bank? There are countless job bank resources available to you. We suggest starting at the Office of Career Services prior to embarking on that journey. If you decided to go that route, we recommend that you see who is offering jobs in your career field in the geographic region. Then focus on one or two of the most promising job banks. Each job bank will have its own criteria on how to submit a resume. America's Job Bank is a national source that requires you register prior to using their services. |
