The Office of Career Services maintains an active network of alumni who have volunteered to share their time and professional expertise with undergraduates and alumni of Bates. Once you register with the Online Community, you can elect to have your occupation, employer, graduate school, city/state, and phone number available to students and alumni. Upon registration with the Online Community, alumni and parents can elect to become OCS Career Advisors. Once designated, an OCS Advisor may be contacted by a student or alum for an informational interview about their professional career path. OCS Advisors may be asked to share their opinions and professional insights with regard to job-hunting techniques, function or analysis of the nature of their job, demands and rewards of the job, the need for graduate or professional training, an evaluation of their graduate or professional school experience, and advice about entering the job market. The emphasis of the OCS Advisor Network is on information gathering and expanding one’s network; OCS Advisors should not be approached as an employment contact or asked for a job. To become an OCS Advisor, please register with the Bates Online Community. |
