Latest NewsMeg Coffin named All-American by WBCA, D3Hoops.com 3/19/2006
Coffin, a 6-1 center from Westford, Mass., was also named a Second Team All-America defender after the 2005 soccer season by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Only Liz Wanless, Bates Class of 2004, achieved a similar feat, by winning All-America honors in both track and field and volleyball. The D3Hoops.com and WBCA recognitions make it seven postseason honors from the 2005-06 basketball season for Coffin, who led the Bobcats in scoring (17.1), rebounding (11.0), blocked shots (1.6 bpg) and steals (2.3 spg), and was at the top or near the top of the NESCAC in all of those categories. Coffin also set a new school record for field goal percentage, at .592, topping Olivia Zurek's mark of .582 from 2002-03. She had previously been named NESCAC Player of the Year; First Team All-NESCAC; Northeast Region First Team by D3Hoops.com; First Team All-New England by the New England Women's Basketball Association; and First Team All-State by the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association. The Bobcats finished the season 19-9 after their fourth straight appearance in the NESCAC Finals and their second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. |
