Special Notes for Bates students and alums interested in the Churchill Scholarship : Science majors at Bates College planning on a research career may find that a year of work in the United Kingdom gives them a truly international perspective. The Churchill Scholarship is designed exactly to provide this enrichment. The Churchill Scholarship provides funding for a year of graduate study for U. S. citizens in the fields of egineering, mathematics, or science at Churchill College, University of Cambridge. Candidates should possess outstanding academic and leadership qualities. The applicant may already by enrolled in a U. S. graduate program at the time of application. The applicant's study or research plans must be well-suited to Cambridge departments. A very high GPA and GRE scores are required (please note that the GRE Subject Test is no longer compulsory), and the applicant submits an application to the University of Cambridge along with the Churchill Scholarship application. Two nominees for the Churchill Scholarship may be put forward by Bates College per year. An awardee must be between the ages of 19 and 26. The Bates First Submission deadline for the Churchill Scholarship is Oct. 10, 2007.
