The Medical Minority Applicant Registry (Med-MAR) compiles a list of financially disadvantaged and minority medical school applicants from the demographic information applicants provide when they register for the MCAT. As long as you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident visa holder, you can opt at no cost to be included in the registry. Schools will contact applicants in whom they are interested. Registry provides them with your name, address, DOB, social security number, undergrad college and major, racial or ethnic self-description, state of legal residence, and MCAT scores. Medical schools wishing to increase their minority applicant pool will use the registry to contact qualified applicants. Students are also encouraged to contact schools directly. Once minority students graduate from medical school, the AAMC enters them into the Minority Physicians Database (MPDB) and tracks their practice patterns. |
