First Year Students:
- Attend the First Year Pre-Med Meeting.
- Talk with your first year advisor about medicine as a career option.
- Visit the Office of Career Services to explore health careers and find out about the OCS resources.
- Learn the basic requirements for your professional interests.
- Work out a study plan with your advisor to keep your options open as you explore your own academic and extracurricular areas of interest.
- Choose the academic area that interests you the most as your field of concentration.
- Don't overload in the sciences (but start that chemistry!).
- Watch for memos and the OCS training sessions for health careers seminars/meetings.
- Begin your summer job or internship hunt early in the year.
- Talk with sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

Sophomore Year Students:
- Attend Sophomore Pre-Med Meeting.
- Visit the OCS to research health related volunteer activities.
- Explore the Career Advisory Network, the Health Professions Binder and the CDIP program at the OCS to learn about the health professions from the professionals.
- Get to know members of the faculty.
- Explore summer job possibilities in human service organizations, hospitals, and research laboratories.
- Stay on top of your studies, and get help if you need it.
