The grant recognizes that it is important to begin early to develop student knowledge, research practices, critical, analytical and creative thinking habits, and time-project-management skills essential for a successful thesis. The Program invites proposal applications by faculty in the humanities and social sciences to bring extramural experts as participants in their courses. Innovative learning models are equally encouraged. The Learning Associates Program welcomes applications from individual faculty and departments, while also encouraging proposal applications from clusters of faculty, interdisciplinary teams, multiple departments or programs. The Program also invites applications from collaborations of faculty and other entities at the College, such as the Muskie Archives, the Museum of Art, the Harward Center for Community Partnerships, and academic partnerships that extend beyond the College. All applications will be reviewed by a selection committee of three faculty, who will award available funds to the best qualified proposals. The Committee appreciates the need for long-range planning by faculty, and invites applications for projects well in advance of intended implementation. Applications Deadlines for application submission for Academic Year 2009-10 will before noon on the day of the deadline..
