Bates (1-0) dominated USM in every match, with senior Cecilia Grissa (Doylestown, Pa.) and sophomore Alex Piacquad (Yardley, Pa.) holding their opponents scoreless at the top two singles positions, and sophomore Jean Gulliver (Falmouth, Maine) and first-year Eliza Kano-Bower (Wayland, Mass.) doing the same at Nos. 5 and 6 singles. Senior Mallika Raghavan (Chappaqua, N.Y.) yielded a single game to USM's Sara Willey at No. 3 singles. The Huskies forfeited points at No.3 doubles and No. 6 singles. The Bobcats next travel to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Championships at MIT on Sept. 21.
