Q: The day you stop serving the tomatoes from the Somalian farm will be a sad, sad day!
A Yes it will be. Thanks for writing.

Q: The smashed potatoes were great!
A: Glad that you enjoyed them! Thanks for writing.
Q: Shrimp in salad bar! and more bananas please!
A: Bananas a definite yes, shrimp from time to time.
Q: The online menu doesn't reflect the menu that was given on Sept. 23. Perhaps something is wrong with the website again?
A: Allan, can you please check this and get back to me.
Q: I really enjoy kashi's Heart to Heart cereal, but I think it'd be great if commons got more of kashi's products. My favorite is Kashi's GoLean Crunch cereal.
A: This cereal is not available in bulk pack so we will not be offering it. Thanks for writing

Q: The butternut squash at dinner last night was amazing! Keep it coming!
A: Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
Q: The multigrain bread served at dinner last night was great! Can we have this more often?
A: Sure can. Thanks for writing.
Q: I often find that the lactaid milk in the cooler runs out at the end of the week. Is there any way you could order more of this to make sure that everyone who uses this kind of milk can get some? Thanks
A: I will check the order and make sure that this is corrected.
Q: Can we get Whole Wheat Pizza? It tastes great and is even better for you!!! Heck even digiorno does. You could buy from them if you need to, but I think it would be better if you made it yourself. YUM!!
A: We are experimenting with a whole wheat crust and will be adding it to out offerings once we move to the new facility.
Q: I love fresh berries, I eat them so much while at home, but here I hardly even have them available to me. Why don't we get raspberries and strawberries?
A: We do serve fresh berries when available and cost effective. Thanks for writing.
Q: Multi grain pasta!
A: Working on it. Thanks for writing.
Apple cidar = great, even wonderful!
Glad you are enjoying it. Thanks for writing.
Q: I think that Commons should keep frozen berries on hand as well several yogurt flavors in tubs. If you made a blender available, everyone could make him/herself a smoothie. Add some granola, raisins, and nuts nearby for the perfect parfait.
A: This is indeed a good idea, but not very practical. Additionally we do not have the electric to support the use of a blender.
Q: Is the juice all natural expecially the orange juice? Or is it the concentrate stuff with high fructose corn syrup and bad stuff like that? If it is the bad stuff maybe we should get all natural.
A: The juices are natural from concentrate. Thanks for writing.
Q: Is it possible to bring back the blue powerade? The red is getting a little boring.
A: Blue powerade in bag in the box is not presently available, so we will not be making a change.
Q: This nights vegetable fricasse was one of the worst dishes my palate has ever encountered. Never again will that "thing" touch my tongue.
A: Sorry to hear this and thanks for bring it to my attention. I will review the recipe and make the necessary corrections. Thanks for writing.
Q: Whole wheat products are the current recommendation for optimal health. I wish that whole wheat products such as pasta were offered daily.
A: There are a lot of things that go into an diet aimed at "optimal health" and whole wheat is indeed one of them. At present our supplier is having trouble keeping whole wheat pastas in stock. They hope to have this corrected soon . As soon as this happens you will be seeing more whole wheat pasta. Thanks for writing.
Q: Tortilla soup would be a great idea. We could do it just like asian soup bowl. It would be great. Dont you think?
A: We can certainly take a look at adding this to our menu. Thanks for writing.
Q: I love ice cream. (Who doesn't?) Anyhow, generally I choose to have the vanilla from the soft serve machine b/c it is tastier than the frozen yogurt (except of course when there is peanut butter forzen yogurt). My friends, though, seem to think that the frozen yogurt, is healthier. According to a posting in March '06 they are wrong. However, the posting only included caloric values (and one was in ounces while the other was in cups). To make a long question short, could you please post the fat content of vanilla soft-serve vs frozen yogurt. Thanks so much for all of your hard work!
A: Here you go:
Soft Serve 1g fat per serving
Frozen Yogurt Og Fat
Thanks for writing

Q: Tonight (Thursday, 20) the sesame nuggets were way over cooked to the point they were almost burned...very hard chewing. Less heat next time guys!
A: Sorry about this and thanks for bringing this to my attention. I promise we will do better next time. Thanks for writing.

Q: I loved the garlic hummus in the vegan cooler!!The flavored hummus is great!!!
A: Glad you liked it. Thanks for writing.
Q: We should have garlic marshed potatoes!!! It adds great flavor!!
A: We do. Thanks for writing.
Q: Yesterday when chicken nugets were offered no vegetarian nugets were offered, I think that it should have been. I hope next time when a meat product is offered some sort of vegetarian counterpart will be made.
A: You are correct that we did not feature sesame nuggets when we offer chicken nuggets as we exasperates these two items because of the large cross acceptability sesame nuggets have. In reverse we do not serve chicken nuggets when there are sesame nuggets on the menu. Thanks for writing.
Q: Baked bean should be offered much more often. Maybe place they in a crock-pot or in a self serve section each day. They are cheap to make, tasty and ohhhh so good for you!
A: This is a thought. Thanks for writing.
Q: Instead of lines waiting to get our plates filled why don't we always just serve ourselfs just like on Sunday brunch. It truly cuts down on the time to get food. And plus people can get food from both sides.
A: Good thought, but this will not work in out present facility. We will be moving to a self serve concept in the new building.
Q: We should have Portobello Mushrooms!! They are great cooked with some oil!
A: From time to time you will be seeing these. Thanks for writing.
Q: Could we have the tub ice cream in a cooler as an option other than the soft serve? The sunday bar stuff is so good why not have it everyday?
A: We do not serve hard ice cream as we do not have the space to do so.. We do however recognize its innate goodness so we make sure to include it as a dessert option. Thanks for writing.
September 18, 2007:
Q: I was shocked and amazed at the ginger ice-cream on Sunday. = D. Wonderful.
A: Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for writing.
September 17, 2007:
Q: Could we have a greater variety of hummus in the vegan cooler, like some
of the flavors we had at the hummus bar the other day? That would be great.
A: Yes, we will be rotating them.
Q: Are the darker colored bagels available every day whole wheat? I would
like to know.
A: The darker colored bagels are plain flavored Spelt bagels.
Q: Could we have the stonyfield farm Strawberry/Rasberry 2 - a - day yogurt? I find that it is the best tasting of the brand!
A: Don't know if we can get it. Let me see.
Q: Can we have some corn meal mush available at lunch or breakfast?
A: Not very likely.
Q: Do you wash all the pesticides off the fruits and vegetables before serving them to us?
A: Yes we do and with a special made for this very purpose.
Q: I think there needs to be a greater variety of hot cereal in the morning. Why not have some oat bran, or hot toasted wheat cereal, or raisin oatmeal, or maple oatmeal sometimes? Or any other hot cereals that you know of? I think it would help relieve the monotony of plain oatmeal and cream of wheat, especially when students want hot meals in the winter.
A: The reason we serve these two plain cereals is that it gives the customer the choice to customize it the way they like. Some popular items to add are nutritional years, raisin, marshmellows, chocolate chips, syrup, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and sugar and fruit, yogurt, just to name a few. I'm sure you can come up with more of your own. Thanks for writing.
Q: Can we have grits available? Whether cheesy grits or southern grits, or whatever?
A: I myself love a good cheesy grit. Let me see what we can do.
Q: I really loved when the apple orchard came on Wed. We should do that a lot. Those apples were great. Those are what we should have in commons (while in season).
A: These have just come into season. We will be getting them.
Q: I wish at the new commons that you will greatly expand the vegan/vegetarian selection. So us plant eaters don't starve as much!
A: We are planning on that expanding the vegetarian and vegan options in the new facility, but perhaps you are not aware of all that is presently provided. There is a vegetarian option on the line at lunch and dinner, the marinara sauce is vegan and several of the pastas are vegan and vegetarian- there is whole wheat/rice pasta on the salad bar that is vegan. There are many other options in the Specialty Cooler located by the low ceiling salad bar. Additionally the low ceiling deli bar becomes a vegan bar at night with multiple options. This is in addition the unlimited number of combination you can make with the numerous individual items provided in Commons.
Thanks for writing
Q: Could we have pre-made salads available, like cranberry-walnut-feta salad with sweet mustard dressing? (one of my favorites) Or similar nut and fruit based salads and sweet dressings? Or please offer these individual ingredients at the salad bar.
A: Pre-made salads tend not to hold us well and we try to limit the use of nuts. There are many combination salads you can make on your own from the individual items provided in Commons.
Q: We should have Pear, Cheese and Walnut Salad please.
A: Perharps. Thanks for writing.
Q: Could we have Texas French Roast?
A: We used to serve these and they were not in the least popular.
Q: Creamy Onion Soup would be a good recipe to add to commons. Please use a vegetarian recipe.
A: Will Do. Thanks for writing.
Q: We need whole wheat pasta!
A: Let me see what we can do. Thanks for writing.
Q: I think we should have roasted garlic french fries. Perhaps use a garlic butter sauce. This would taste much better than normal fries.
A: This is a thought. Thanks for writing.
Q: Have we ever had sushi? We need more sushi! On a regular basis?
A: Sushi is a very labor and space intensive item, given this in our present location we cannot provide this item as often as we would like. Once we move out you will see it more often.
Q: Here is a novel idea....make the menu online match the food served at commons??maybe, maybe? nahh why do that
A: It was corrected last week.
September 13, 2007:
Q: I find that the rice in some of the other pasta in commons to be very dry. I feel that more water might be needed in the pan when the food is cooked. In addition, more flavorful rice would be great! Also, multi-grain/wheat pasta should be offered much more (like everyday please!).
A: It is difficult to keep items like this as fresh as when first cooked in the quantities we serve. In the new facility we will be dipping pasta at
the station which will allow us to serve a hight quality product. I will look at the pasta rotation and see if we can tweak it so that wheat/multi grain is available more often.
Q: I'm a big fan of the scrambled egg whites at Sunday brunch. Is there any way we can have them during the week as well?
A: Sure can. All you need to do is ask at the grill and Brad would be more than happy to make up a batch for you. Thanks for writing.
Q: The potato pesto soup is wonderful! Please serve it more often.
A: We can do. Thanks for writing.
September 12, 2007:
Q:Duck salad. Please.
A: Little chance of this happening, but I will keep it in mind.
