Week of: Affected Services: If you experience problems after the network maintenance, please contact 2009 - 2010 Preventative Maintenance Schedule: If Thunderbird is reporting that sending of message has failed to connect to smtp server mail.bates.edu and you need to send out a message asap, don't forget that Webmail should be able to send out when Thunderbird's server may be maxed out. Eventually Thunderbird will send out after a retry or two, but Webmail might be your handiest answer. E-mail hoaxes are often reported to Help Desk Services with various subject lines and senders trying to get users to respond with usernames and passwords, claiming you are running out of space, the account is due, etc. PLEASE do not ever respond to those messages, but rather delete them without opening any attachments. ILS will never ask you for your network password (or any other password issued by Bates College) for any reason. |
