Routine network maintenance is scheduled for this Thursday, April 17th from 4:30pm to 7:00pm. Please be prepared that all network services will be affected during this period, and plan your work accordingly.
Help Desk Services staff will attend a staff development day, Monday April 14th. Your calls will be answered by either an answering service, or if 2 is pressed, a student assistant. We appreciate your patience that calls may be responded to on our next business day.

Week of 2/18/08:
Network Preventative Maintenance is scheduled for Thurs. 21st, from 4:30pm to 7:00pm. All Network services will be affected. Please plan your work accordingly.
During this preventative maintenance, an upgrade to Meeting Maker (v.8.7) will happen. When users open their Meeting Maker on Friday 22nd, the password to enter Meeting Maker will be the same as your network password - not a separate/user chosen password. You will no longer be able to change that password within the program. Please consult the Tips and Helpful Links help sheet for Meeting Maker for additional details.
Week of 1/28/08:
China network printers are being phased out and newly renamed print queues have been assigned to the new Canton server. Please watch for e-mail notices on which printers are being affected this Tuesday - Thursday; and consult the Printing help sheets for instructions. Belfast printers are not part of this rollout.
Week of 1/21/08:
ILS is working to resolve printing issues and spotty access to files on network servers that have been reported all over campus this week. Splitting the duties of these servers, and upgrading the hardware are among the plans being implemented. We appreciate your patience as we make transitions. More information will become available as users will need to make changes connecting their computers to network printers in the future.

Thursday December 19, 2007 from 4:30pm to 7:00pm ILS network preventative maintenance will take place. Please plan your work accordingly that a variety of services will be unavailable during this period of time.

Network printers on the China server are still experiencing problems with duplexing settings. Printers in Ladd Library and Pettengill that are suppose to be duplexing by default (to save paper and toner, etc.) have lost that capability (or are only doing so intermittently at best). ILS is working on resolving this situation, and greatly appreciates your patience. For best practices and other tips for successful printing please consult the Printing Tips web page. Please contact Help Desk Services, x8222, with any reports on malfunctioning printers during this heavy printing season.
Week of 11/5/07:
Printers in Ladd Library have been experiencing some technical problems, resulting in the redirection of all print jobs sent to Ladd Ref 1 to Ladd Ref 2 printer. Please plan accordingly to print to Ladd IR or Ladd Ref 2, etc., and pick up your work promptly.
Week of 10/29/07:
The Banner system, including access to Garnet Gateway, will be down for maintenance this Friday, November 2nd, from 7:00pm - 10:30pm.
Week of 10/22/07:
Macintosh's new operating system, Leopard, is currently not able to use our network using Cisco Clean Access Agent login. We are awaiting the upgrade/fix for this bug from them, and we will alert the Bates community when Leopard is supported by CCAA.
Week of 10/1/07:
Garnet Gateway (as well as all other Banner services) will be unavailable on Saturday, 10/6/07 from 6:00am to noon.
Week of 9/17/07:
Ladd Ref 1 and 2 printers moved from the Reference area to in front of Help Desk Services counter. Monitoring printers and troubleshooting is part of HDS responsibilities; hopefully resulting in better printer performance in their new location.
