Wesleyan trips defensive-minded Bobcats in field hockey

Bates fell to 5-5-1 on the season and 2-5 in the NESCAC, while Wesleyan improved to 7-4 (3-3 NESCAC) with its fifth straight win. David took a corner strike 13:49 into the first half and scored on a tip-in of a drive by Jamie Thabault. Bates sophomore Helena Turner (Manchester, Mass.) made eight saves for the near shutout, while Wesleyan goalie Breen McDonald had six saves. Bates senior Caitlin Tamposi (Temple, N.H.) came up with a defensive save for the Bobcats. Wesleyan had a 13-9 edge in shots and a 10-6 advantage in penalty corners. The Bobcats have a non-league contest at New England College scheduled for Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. |
