I received a B.A. degree in mathematics from Dartmouth College, and then worked for a few years in biochemical and genetic research labs. I did graduate work in statistics, receiving an M.S. degree from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. from the University of Rochester.
My area of research is survival analysis which has applications in numerous fields including my favorite, medicine. At Bates I teach probability and statistics, and advise thesis students with topics in these areas.Other activities I like are tennis, skiing and hiking.
