Gulliver notches women's tennis's third victory at Bowdoin round robin

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Bates sophomore Jean Gulliver (Falmouth, Maine) defeated Katie Muto of Colby 7-5, 6-2, on Sunday at the Bowdoin Round Robin, giving the Bobcats their third win in the two-day tournament.

In Saturday's action, which included Brandeis, Colby and host Bowdoin, Bates notched victories via first-year Eliza Kano-Bower's (Wayland, Mass.) 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Colby's Gracie Shanks in singles; in doubles action, senior Cecilia Grissa (Doylestown, Pa.) and sophomore Alexandra Piacquad (Yardley, Pa.) downed Colby's Muto and Alessandra Welker 8-6.
