The Bates College Wallach Tennis Center is home to eight Plexicushion hard courts configured in two banks of four medium-fast courts.

Stadium seating is located at both ends of each bank of courts, which provides fans with excellent viewing access to every match. Championship quality lighting creates the perfect environment for night matches.

Central communications and sports information will be located on site at the Wallach Tennis Center Pavilion.

Practice courts are available on site prior to the start of the tournament.  An auxiliary practice site located at Lewiston High School will also be available when matches are in session.  The high school is a five minute drive from campus.

In case of inclement weather, the Racquet and Fitness Center in Portland Maine has been secured for the entire event.  This center is the premiere indoor club in Maine and has nine Plexipave hard courts with excellent viewing from first and second floor lounges. The Racquet and Fitness Center is a 35-minute drive from Bates on the Maine Turnpike.

Getting to Wallach Tennis Center

The Wallach Tennis Center is located near the corner of Russell Street and Central Avenue. Parking will be available at the Merrill Lot between the track and field complex and Merrill Gymnasium off Russell Street. From the lot, walk between Merrill Gymnasium and Underhill Arena. Keeping the arena on your right, walk around the building to the Wallach Tennis Center.

Admission to the 2008 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships at Bates College is free of charge. Access to courts will be limited to athletes either in a match or warming up for a match and their coaches. All athletes and coaches should have credentials with them to get on the courts for their match.

Spectators will have access to all four sets stands and can be within two courts of any match during each day of competition, depending on seating availability.

Credentials will be issued for the observation deck, but authorization will be limited to event staff, media and photographers. For information on how to obtain a media or photo pass, please contact Andy Walter in the Bates College Sports Information Department either by e-mail at twalter@bates.edu, or by phone at (207) 786-6411. Teams bringing extra personnel (administrators, athletic trainers, SIDs, etc.) should also inform us so we can issue the correct number of credentials to each team.

Directions to Lewiston High School

From the Merrill Lot, take a right onto Russell Street. At the first light, turn right onto East Avenue. Go straight through two lights and look for the high school on your right.

Directions to the Portland Racquet and Fitness Center

From Lewiston, travel south on the Maine Turnpike (I-95) to Exit 46 (formerly Exit 7A, same exit as the airport). Take a left off the exit ramp, and another left onto Outer Congress Street. The center is less than half a mile down the road on your right.

Bates' Wallach Tennis Center proved to be a wonderful venue for the national championship when the Bobcats last hosted in 2004. From all accounts, for participants and fans alike, it was a most memorable event.
