CAPE COD The Falmouth Service Center The Falmouth Service Center (FSC) is a non-profit agency that has been working for two decades with the community to support and improve the lives of families and individuals in need in the Falmouth area. Their new Housing and Human Services Campus was opened in April 2002. The new campus has 28 affordable housing units, the FSC, and a community garden project. The residents, many of whom are housed through the Departments of Mental Health and Mental Retardation, will work the land and harvest produce to feed Service Center clients as well as community members through sales in a farm stand operated by the residents. As April is the beginning of the gardening season on Cape Cod, the primary task of the Bates volunteers will be to assist in getting the community garden ready for planting. This will entail spreading mulch and other chores. If we are beset with rain on that date, we will work instead in the food pantry warehouse sorting, organizing, and cleaning. For more information about the Falmouth Service Center go to www.falmouthservicecenter.org. Following our project, those who are interested will gather at Liam Maguire's Irish Pub and Restaurant for lunch in Falmouth. Cape Cod NDS Leaders: Ann Nagel Stone ’70 |
