LOS ANGELES

10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The Good Shepherd Shelter
Meet at:  Administrative Office

Los Angeles

The Sisters of the Good Shepherd have a 350-year history of dedication to women and girls who have been abused or exploited. They currently serve in 67 countries.  The Good Shepherd Shelter is the only shelter in Los Angeles established specifically to help families break the generational cycle of domestic violence. While a great number of local shelters provide emergency assistance to victims of abuse, only Good Shepherd Shelter provides a proven program for helping battered women to heal and to prepare for independence; and they've been doing it since 1979.

The Shelter can always put volunteers to work.  Possible projects for the Bates group include:  painting a hallway in the residence; spreading wood chips by the play equipment; painting benches on the grounds; or working in the garden.  Lunch will be provided by Bates.
