Women's squash finishes 12th in national rankings

Bates finishes team competition this season with an 11-11 record. The Bobcats, who were seeded 13th in the tournament, earned a final national ranking of No. 12, while the Lyons finish 17-5. The match broke down identically to Bates' 5-4 loss to Mt. Holyoke on Jan. 19 at Yale. The Lyons swept the top four positions, while the Bobcats gained points from sophomore Whitney Roller (Haverford, Pa.) at No. 5, junior Margot Webel (Locust Valley, N.Y.) at No. 7, first-year Stephanie Cabot (Dover, Mass.) at No. 8 and junior Sophie Runquist (Kent, Conn.), who won 9-0, 9-0, 9-0 at No. 9. First-year Anna Hogeland (Williamstown, Mass.) also won the exhibition match at No. 10. Up next for some members of the Bates men's and women's squash teams are the CSA Individual Nationals, slated for next weekend at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. Mount Holyoke 5, Bates 4 |
