To encourage greater energy conservation on campus:
- The main steam plant is started later in the fall and shut down earlier in the spring.
- Winter temperature settings have been reduced to 68 F and summer temperature settings raised to 72 F.
- Compact flourescent bulbs are provided to students as replacements for incandescent bulbs.
- Occupancy sensors are placed where appropriate in all new construction and renovation projects.
- Washing machines in all residences have been replaced with front-loading machines.
- Vending misers have been installed on most vending machines on campus effectively putting the machines to sleep when no motion is detected.
