Gauthier, Duncan win NESCAC Performer of the Week honors
April 28,
2008
The honor takes on special meaning this week since its basis is the NESCAC Men's and Women's Track and Field Championships, held last weekend at Hamilton College. Gauthier (Amherst, N.H.), a senior three-time All-American and one-time NCAA champion, earned the men's honor by placing first in both the hammer throw (55.71 meters) and the shot put (15.11 meters), leading the Bobcats to third place out of 11 teams at the meet, their second straight top-three finish. Duncan (Topsham, Maine), a sophomore one-time All-American, placed first in the shot put (13.51 meters), third in the hammer throw (43.43m) and fourth in the discus (35.26m), leading Bates to seventh place, one spot up from the Bobcats' position a year ago. Duncan, Gauthier and the other top performers from the Bates track and field teams travel to the New England Division III Championships this weekend at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. |
