2007-2008: At NESCAC Championships, posted a preliminary round time of 24.66 seconds in the 50-yard backstroke, breaking his previous Bates standard of 25.32 from 2006; with the fourth-best time in prelims, Berry also finished fourth in the championship final in 24.71 seconds.... Berry also broke his own school mark in the 100-yard backstroke in the prelims of the 400 medley relay, starting Bates off with a backstroke leg of 53.31 seconds, bettering his former mark of 54.00.... Also finished sixth in the finals of the 100-yard backstroke, swimming 53.48 seconds in preliminaries and 53.35 seconds in the finals, nearing the personal and Bates record of 53.31 he set on the previous day as part of the 400 medley relay.... In the 200-yard backstroke, set his third Bates record of the meet with a time of 1:57.53 in prelims, a performance that beat the previous mark of 1:58.35 set by Andrew O'Donnell in 2002; Berry then rebroke the record in the finals, touching the wall in 1:57.10 to finish 10th in the event, his third top-10 finish at the meet.
2006-2007: At NESCACs, was a top-10 finisher in both the 50- yard (25.66) and 100-yard backstroke (54.70, second in consolation final); took12th place in 200-yard backstroke (1:59.01) in the consolation final; member of eighth-place-finishing 800-yard freestyle relay team (7:23.81) and the tenth-place-finishing 400-yard freestyle relay team (3:18.50).
2005-2006: At NESCACs, finished eighth overall in the 100-yard backstroke (54.02); placed ninth in the 50-yard backstroke (25.32), earned Bates record for both races at NESCACs (Feb. 24, 2006); was a member of the ninth-place finishing 200 medley relay team (1:40.94), the eighth-place finishing 200 freestyle relay (1:29.32) and the ninth-place finishing 400 medley relay (3:44.62). High School: National Honor Society member... Honor roll student and finished in the top 10 percent of his class... Pep band member... Jazz band member... Competed in varsity volleyball and swimming... Swim team captain and state qualifier for three years... Kennebec Journal Swimmer of the Year in 2003-2004. |
