Pham leads women's XC to fifth out of 42 teams at ECACs

Bates scored 121 points, trailing only Williams, Amherst, Middlebury and Connecticut College. Colby finished sixth, followed by Springfield, Vassar, The College of New Jersey and Tufts to round out the top 10. Pham (Sharon, Mass.) covered the 6-kilometer course at Colt State Park in 24:58, good for 32nd place out of 298 runners in the race. First-year Nina Slote (Newton, Mass.) followed Pham in 35th place with a time of 25:04. Rounding out Bates' top seven were first-year Jenny Monsulick (Readfield, Maine) in 50th, sophomore Jen Mitton (Reisterstown, Md.) in 57th, sophomore Kerri Leonhardt (Milford, N.J.) in 64th, senior Jessie Smith (Farmington, Maine) in 70th and junior Alison Leonard (North Granby, Conn.) in 126th. The Bobcats will compete in the New England Division III Championship next Saturday at Williams College. The women's race starts at 12 p.m. at Mt. Greylock High School in Williamstown, Mass.
