Head Coach Gwen Lexow

Gwen Lexow has been the softball coach at Bates College since 1999. A 1990 graduate of Knox College in Galesburg, Ill., Lexow earned distinction as a two-time All-Midwest Conference selection and a National Softball Coaches Association Academic All-American at third base. Playing and coaching for an elite American Softball Association club from her native Downers Grove, Ill., she led her teams to four national championships.

Lexow is an NCAA Fellow and serves on the NCAA Division III Regional Advisory Softball Committee.  In addition to her responsibilities in the athletic department, she teaches a first-year seminar as a member of the College’s history department. She received her master's and Ph.D. degrees in the history of American civilization from Harvard University.
