Images of Critique, Action and Change:
A Multi-Screen Exhibit of Political Videos
Curated by Craig Saddlemire '05
This exhibit is open from noon through 5:30 p.m. in Perry Atrium, Pettengill Hall.
The struggle for Social Justice requires CRITIQUE, ACTION and an ongoing commitment to CHANGE. Rare and provocative videos that document each of these activities at Bates, in Central Maine and across the United States are presented here, on three separate screens -- one for each category. This compilation of short stories, commentaries and newsreels reminds us that the struggle for Social Justice is on our front doorstep, being fought every day by ordinary people, just like us.These videos were produced by non-profits, independent media artists and the Maine Video Activists Network (MVAN). MVAN is a monthly newsreel produced by volunteer videomakers, who document the grassroots work of the Social Justice Movement in Maine and distribute their videos on the Internet as well as cable-access television.
