Men's squash falls to Williams in NESCAC semifinals

Bates junior Kush Mahan (Gainesville, Fla.) defeated Middlebury's John Paul Sardi and sophomore Will Katz (Bronxville, N.Y.) downed the Panthers' Valentin Quan in a pair of five-game marathons at the first and second positions to pace the Bobcats. Junior Jordan Greenberg (Malvern, Pa.) lost the lone game for Bates when he retired in the fourth game at the third position after leading 2-1. Individual results for the Williams match will be posted when available. The Bobcats (9-7) will face No. 5 seed Amherst on Sunday at 12:15 p.m. to determine third place in the conference. Bates will host the Maine Invitational next weekend, starting with matches against Tufts on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and against George Washington on Friday at 8:30 p.m. They'll conclude the tournament with a match against MIT on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Bates 8, Middlebury 1 Williams 7, Bates 2 |
