Bobcats second in Maine Women's Indoor T&F Championships

Bowdoin College took the team title with 220 points, outpacing Bates (146), followed by Colby (119) and last year's team champion, Southern Maine (87). The Polar Bears won six events, with Elsa Millett winning both the 200 meters (26.69 seconds) and the 400 (59.24). Other multiple event winners included Colby's Emma Linhard in the 800 meters (2:22.70) and the mile (5:07.87), as well as Bates junior Vantiel Elizabeth Duncan (Topsham, Maine) in the shot put (40-05.50) and weight throw (52-08.75). Bates won more events than any other team, with seven titles to Bowdoin's six. Winning events for the host Bobcats in addition to Duncan were first-year Tina Tobin (Lowell, Mass.) in the 55-meter hurdles, at 8.90 seconds; senior Izzy Alexander (Harvard, Mass.) in the 600 meters (1:37.41); senior Jen Marino (Methuen, Mass.) in the triple jump (36-09.00); the 4x200 meter relay team of junior Molly Radis (Peaks Island, Maine), first-year Taylor Piers (Falmouth, Maine), senior Tara Higgins (Jeffersonville, Vt.) and first-year Elizabeth Carleton (Westborough, Mass.); and the 4x400 relay team of sophomore Dana Lindauer (Needham, Mass.), Tobin, Marino and Alexander. Tomorrow night at 6 p.m. Bates will host the Maine Intercollegiate Men's Indoor Championships. The Bates women will next compete on Feb. 13 at the Valentine Invitational at Boston University, followed the next day by the MIT Invitational.
