Q: Mediterranean pastry thing today at lunch (vegan bar) was great. Best thing I've had in commons in a long time (ever?). I've had quite a few good things from the vegan bar, but almost none of them seem to show up again. Maybe this one can't be a regular (ingredient cost, prep time), but I know that isn't true of some of the other dishes I'm thinking of.
A: Thank you for your comments.

Q: Can you occasionally switch up the types of whole milk yogurt? Blueberry and strawberryare great, but they get boring after awhile. It doesn't even really matter what it getsswitched up with, I like everything!
A: Let us see what we can do.

Q: I heard a rumor that the petition to restore the Den to its former status went rightfrom the bulletin board into the paper shredder without any serious consideration. Please tell me that's not true.
A: This is one of many urban myths. I reviewed the petition with the VP of Finance and the FAC ( Food Advisory Committee). As I indicated in an earlier response it is not fiscally responsible to operate two competing operations ( the Den and Milts) at the same time. What I did say was that I would look at how we might provided special programming options in the Den thus allowing use of it while not compromising Milts. The first of these " special programming" opportunities occurred on Super Bowl Sunday and I'm sad to say that only seven students took advantage of the Den's opening. We are planning other opportunities in the future hoping that the participation will be significantly higher. To be honest given the number of signatures and the amount of attention given to the Den, I'm quite disappointed .
Q:I know that whole grain products are offered sometimes, but I am putting a request out for more. Sometimes, there are only non whole grain pastas offered, for example, which I can not eat, thus restricting my and others options who require whole grain options for health purposes.
Thank you for your time.
A: There are always whole grain options available, though you are right that there is not always an whole grain pasta option. If you are relaying only on pasta to meet your nutritional needs there is a larger issue than there not being whole grain pasta at every meal.
Q: I am wondering why organic free range eggs are not offered as grass fed beef is? Is this being considered? Surely, there are local organic free range egg farms. Organic free range eggs healthier for human consumption as well as for the chickens involved.
A: In comparison, free range eggs are much more expensive then grass fed beef. Additionally grass fed beef is not offered all the time.
