Dial-in Networking: Windows Vista Settings

Access the Bates Network from off-campus by configuring your computer to dial in through a modem connection.  These instructions should cover all varieties of windows Vista operating systems. Administrator permissions are advised for setting up network connections.

A. Turn on your computer:

1. Click on the Start button
2. Mouse over to Connect to
3. Select Setup a Connection or Network 
4. Select Set up a dial-up connection 
5. Click Next
6. Fill in the
   Setting up the PPP connection:
7. Select Connect to the network at my workplace
8. Click on Next
9. Select Dial Up connection
10. Click on Next
11. Fill in the Connection box (as in the screen shot below) Lewiston area number (A):

 

The username and password (B) required is the same as your Bates e-mail/network account. Click continue for permission to continue with the connection process.

Click connect (C) with phone cord plugged into computer as well as into a live wall jack.
